Mark Ostry

(Architect, Acton Ostry)

PRESIDENT │ Mark Ostry is a founding principal of Acton Ostry Architects, one of British Columbia's leading architectural practices. The work of Acton Ostry Architects has been featured in books and professional journals and has been exhibited in Canada and Europe. It has been the recipient of several significant civic, provincial and national awards for its design excellence. Mark has contributed to the profession and the community, serving on the City of Vancouver Urban Design Panel and the City of Vancouver Artist Live / Work Studio Implementation Committee. He has been a Board member of several cultural institutions and has served as an advisor to the Canada Council and the City of Vancouver Cultural Planning Department.  He is a member of the Canada Green Building Council.

 

Christine Haebler

(Producer, Terminal City Pictures)

VICE-PRESIDENT │ Christine Haebler is one of Vancouver's most accomplished producers, with feature film credits that include the Genie-nominated Hard Core Logo, Gary Burns's highly acclaimed Kitchen Party, and Malcolm Ingram's Tail Lights Fade.  She also served as Executive Producer on Reg Harkema's A Girl is a Girl, Ben Ratner's Moving Malcolm, and the critically acclaimed 10-part miniseries Terminal City. Her most recent and exciting producing venture is the soon-to-be unveiled Nightwatching, Peter Greenaway's latest film, which premiered in competition at the 2007 Venice Film Festival.  She is currently in production of director Sandra Nettelbeck’s Helen, starring Ashley Judd.

 

Luca Citton
(Lawyer: Watson Goepel Maledy)

SECRETARY │ Luca Citton is an associate solicitor specializing in business and entertainment law at Watson Goepel Maledy LLP. Mr. Citton obtained a B.A. in Philosophy from Simon Fraser University in 1998, and his L.L.B. from the University of Queens in 2001.

 

Wynford Owen
(Accountant, Vancouver Whitecaps)

TREASURER │ Board member Wynford Owen has been involved in not-for-profit organizations, both in  management and as a board member, for the last 20 years. Born and raised in Wales, he completed his education at Leeds University, Yorkshire, England. He began work in the fledgling computer industry in London before moving to Canada in the mid seventies. A lifetime soccer fan, he is currently the accountant for Vancouver Whitecaps Football Club of the United Soccer League.


Harry Karlinsky
(Clinical Professor, Dept. of Psychiatry, UBC)

MEMBER │ Harry Karlinsky obtained his MD from the University of Manitoba, his specialty degree in Geriatric Psychiatry from the University of Toronto and his Masters in Neuroscience degree from the University of London, England. Currently he is a Clinical Professor with the Dept of Psychiatry at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Karlinsky has a long involvement with various professional and public education initiatives. One of his current activities is directed towards how the use of films can enhance education in mental health.  Dr. Karlinsky is the founding and ongoing Director of the award-winning Frames of Mind Mental Health Film Series and Festival and writes a film column for the Canadian Psychiatric Association publication Canadian Psychiatry Aujourd’hui.

 

Eleni Kassaris
(Lawyer, Blake, Cassels & Graydon)

MEMBER │ Eleni Kassaris is a lawyer in the Vancouver office of Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP.  Her practice focusses on advising clients on a wide range of labour and employment law matters including human rights and privacy issues in the workplace.  Eleni was born and raised in Vancouver and received her B.Sc. from the University of British Columbia in 1998 and her L.L.B. from the University of Western Ontario in 2001.  Eleni volunteers her time as a member of the executive of the Employment Law Section of the B.C. Branch of the Canadian Bar Association, is a frequent contributor to a number of legal publications and speaks regularly at conferences.  Eleni is especially proud of her work advising a number of not-for-profit societies and charities on a pro bono basis as an active member of her firm's award-winning pro bono program.

 

Moshe Mastai

MEMBER │ An An avid supporter of the arts, Moshe sits on the Board of Vancouver Art Forum Society and is a juror for the Jewish Community Centre’s Arts Council.  When not at a gallery opening, film night or theatre performance, Moshe works in real estate for Sutton Group and enjoys helping people find a home or sell a business.

 

Benjamin Milne

MEMBER │ Ben Milne is the office manager of Earthsave Canada, a local NGO promoting the move towards a plant-based diet.  An avid cinephile and aficionado of Criterion films, Ben is dedicated to attracting new generations of filmgoers to the Pacific Cinémathèque.
