Radio Corazón

Chile 2007. Director: Roberto Artiagoitía
Cast: Manuela Martelli, Daniel Muñoz, Daniel Alcaíno, Claudia Di Girolamo, Juana Viale

VANCOUVER PREMIERE  │ Based on the incredibly popular talk show “The Sentimental Teaser,” Chile’s most successful radio program of all time, Radio Corazón serves up a stellar Chilean cast in three comic tales of love and sex. The tales are drawn from actual “true stories” related by the radio show’s listeners to the host, Roberto “Rumpy” Artiagoitía, who is famed for dispensing frank and provocative advice to callers on all matters romantic and carnal. Radio Corazón marks Artiagoitía’s feature debut as a director; he appeared onscreen as himself — or, at least, in his guise as DJ Rumpy – in Cristián Galaz’s 1999 Chilean box-office smash The Sentimental Teaser, the first film based on the radio show.  The Sentimental Teaser — that name, not incidentally, is a slang term for penis — screened in Pacific Cinémathèque’s “A Week of Contemporary Chilean Cinema” in 2003. Colour, 35mm, in Spanish with English subtitles. 107 mins.
