ALL AGES WELCOME! ► For the anime fans in your family, we present The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. The popularity of the Haruhi Suzumiya novels has led to serialized manga and anime adaptations as well as this feature-length animated film. A group of high school students meet after class in their “SOS Brigade” office to plan a Christmas party at the insistence of their clear leader, one remarkably energetic and somewhat pushy Haruhi Suzumiya. Kyon, the film’s narrator and member of the Brigade, reluctantly participates in the party planning in the days leading up to Christmas Eve, until one morning he finds that the world changed: Haruhi is gone and no one seems to remember her. Kyon is alone in his search for answers, and along the way it’s revealed that Haruhi and his Brigade friends have some special powers – a source of irritation for Kyon in the past. When given the chance to return the world to its natural order, Kyon isn’t sure if that’s what he really wants. Colour, 35mm, in Japanese with English subtitles, 163 mins.
