The UBC Film Production Program began in 1969 with a handful of film workshops offered to students in the Department of Theatre. From these workshops grew today’s renowned program, which has more than 300 alumni, many of whom are leaders in Canada’s film and television industries. The program now serves more than 70 students annually and offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees.
To commemorate the achievements of the UBC Film Production Program during the past 40 years of excellence, and to launch the next 40 years, a special campaign called The Big Picture been organized by the UBC Film Production Alumni Association, the Film Production Program, and UBC Alumni Affairs.
As part of The Big Picture activities, this special retrospective series, presented in partnership with Pacific Cinémathèque, surveys the history of UBC Film with short- and feature-length works that have defined who we are and where we came from. We invite you to join us to celebrate these films and meet the filmmakers.
